Si Baung

Before i start i must say 'segala puji-pujian bagi Mr Gig (yang tergedik2 sangat nak baca blog bini dia) suami i yang tersayang dan termacho' (selepas accidentally terjumpa my blog).

Serangkap pantun buat my dearest darling hubby

Pecah kaca pecah gelas,
Sudah baca jangan komen lebih-lebih!

(What? It does not rhyme? Suka i la. It's my party and i'll cry if i want to..la..la..la

Do you know it's lunch time now and bulan puasa and org berduyun2 dekat shopping complex because it's a Friday. I just want to curl up under my SM (selimut masam)and take a nap..tapi kerana tak sanggup mengingatkan sorang makaji aunty si Ju-On yg akan kata dgn shrill mat saleh celup voicenya 'Hey Kiah! Ko bila nak hapdate? Ko sibuk mengepit karipap je ke? (Of course i tambah the second half of the sentence for extra effect la kan..)

Anyway, i am in a terrible mood. You know one of those days that you wake up in the morning and you decide that, no, i'll stop being nice today. It may be PMS or perhaps i've just had it with this certain colleague of mine. He is a helpful and unassuming guy..very dependable...This is if you can TAHAN enough when you seek his help. You know of that melayu pepatah 'baung dalam sangkar?' He's definitely that! He can't stop grumbling! Ada saja yg tak betul! And i really can't stand people who menceceh all the time grumbling or offering their opinions at every given situation.

Poor fellow has been at this workplace for one year after retiring from the Ministry of D. When he was there, he was already cam bos kecik. Tapi dia taknak sambung contract. So, he came to me to be recommended for a post here. Which i did and i did mention that he's gonna have a paycut..but he said ne'mind, dia cuma nak lebih masa utk 'beribadat' compared with his former job. Now ni he cannot stop complaining that he's earning 2k less than before. And he went on and on about it cam turntable yg rosak. Arrghhhh!

I feel like saying this to him although tak tercakap because experience wise he's much senior.

1. You come to work at 8 and you leave at 4.45 to beat the jam. During working hours you nak disappear mana2 boleh asalkan you're not on duty.
2. You are not on 24 hour oncall anymore.
3. You don't have to lick the arses of many egotistical, low self esteem men.

What else do you want? How much do you expect to be paid? I don't see you doing anything to improve yourself in order to be promoted. Dulu memang la semua kemudahan you dapat because you membantu menjaga keamanan negara. Sekarang ni, you cuma membantu membesarkan tel** you je. So,what have you got to say about this? Well tough if you think sekarang kerja you banyak..dulu kan you ada your own batman, memangla! Tapi sekarang, cicakman pun takde, so live with it!

There i've said my piece.

Intermission

I have been a tad busy and I must admit that the mood to write has deserted me at least for a while. Last Thursday, I was at the other place I work when the news about Allahyarham Nurin came on tv. Then a colleague of mine confided about someone we know who had to examine allahyarham’s body and how disturbed this person was seeing the battered little body. I’m a mother to a little girl. I couldn’t get this vision out of my mind: of a little girl who thought of nothing but to get those fancy hair clips. And the fear she must have been in when she was bundled into the van and taken to god knows where. I’m sure she must have prayed hard for her mum and dad, after all, children always think that parents will forever be at hand to protect them. And how minutes after minutes which turned into hours, and then days, how that poor girl must have suffered. Until to a point when she could no longer fight back as she was starved and had no energy left. Furthermore, she had to endure all those external and internal wounds inflicted upon her. Then so slowly death finally came…and until the end, mum and dad didn’t come to get her.
Why we may ask such brutality should exist? I hope the family will pull through and have faith…I cannot think of anything else to say..Cuma Allah yang maha mengetahui.

On the same day, I came across a client of mine who suffered from brain damage. He had a face of any 12 year olds but his body was life less and must have weighed only as much as a 3 year old child. My regular question to any parent with a child like this is to inquire if the child had been born as such. Mum explained that her son was born normal and healthy but tragedy struck when he was 6 months old. (I thought of little D at that age. She was beginning to sit unsupported and was already able to terlentang and meniarap on her own.) The boy was looked after by a child minder and one day when she came to pick him up, she found him wrapped up in a towel, shaped like ‘bola rugby’ and was not breathing at that time. They rushed him to the hospital but as the brain was starved off oxygen for sometime thus the result. He was abused by his child minder.

I see children in all sorts of ‘shapes’ and ‘forms’. At the beginning I had to train my eyes not to flicker, to reveal any kind of emotions. Nowadays it comes naturally. I don’t talk about these ‘cases’ with any of my colleagues anymore because they are oh so common. But for the life of me, I still cannot fathom how anyone can abuse a child let alone a helpless baby.

Nightmares and what they mean exactly

I had a couple of nightmares recently:

1. I had to study physics and pass the exam in order to naik pangkat.
Oh tidak! nak tersiksa jiwa i kena buat physics dua tahun for SPM..kalu itula criteria utk naik pangkat, tak naik2 la nampaknya.

2. I am married to my ex-chenta agung (ECA). One day, one of my friends came to me with a problem. Mengenangkan she's one of my favourites, i pun trylah to help her. Her problem was: laki i takde 3 bulan ni gi Jepun, i tengah gersang...(what? ini maca dlm mimpi pun ada ka?). Therefore, i pun cakap kat laki i (yg ECA tu), you pi konket dia, just to release her stress tapi SEKALI je tau! Then i found out that they had repeat sessions and i felt so betrayed! (Ni bagi betis nak peha)

why did i have this weird dream? why on earth was it about my friend? Adakah kerana my friend ni pernah discuss about S.E.X with me and i thought then, uih! Minah ni boleh tahan. Why ECA? Is it because sepanjang panjang our relationship last time i always doubt his fidelity?? I was not paranoid, sometimes the evidence would be staring at my face tapi aku still percaya cakap dia (pengakuan pompuan bodoh ini).

Maybe it was triggered by this sms i received from him a week or two ago:

'Iam due to start a new job in D*** end of this month. I'm doing this for the sake of my son and also my retirement plan'

Me: OK, good luck!

'I wish i had studied harder and not lost T** scholarship last time. If not i'd be working for them now. I wish i had tried harder to make it work with you so that life would be much simpler and i don't have to uproot myself and have to leave my son behind like what i have to do now'

My reply?? NIL - because this ship has sailed! You won't get any sympathies from me. I'm being nice by not replying, kalu ikut hati ni nak je kata "PADAN MUKA!'

The Bali trip

BALI part 1
I have just been scrutinising pictures of my Bali trip and picked up 3 important facts:
1. I looked BIG despite my not taking dinner and living on Nesvita for most of the day a few days prior to the trip (more for my conscience than anything else). During my first trip to Bali 4 years ago, I was already big and was hoping that I could create some good pictures this time round..not a chance! (i think i needed at least 6 months PURELY on Nesvita to look small)

2. There were A LOT of pictures of the hotels we stayed in and not much of true Bali scene. MG’s an architect, obviously many of the pictures were of bumbung rumah, fish pond, swimming pool and gates.

3. Pictures of Little D showed a very masam looking toddler unless when she’s in the pool, of course that was where she was every morning and afternoon! Pictures of me showed the face of a very tired and harassed looking mum.

What can I say? This 2nd trip has been better than the 1st one because this time round we were more adventurous. Although, travelling with a toddler wasn’t easy and mostly we had to keep to her schedule of makan, berak and tidur, nonetheless, I am already eyeing the ‘everyone can fly’ website dreaming of a 3rd one. Probably just with the girls because obviously one parent has to stay back to mind the kid or kids? (hmm..wishful thinking)

Our flight was on a Wed morning. We have been looking forward to this trip since Belladonna went on hers many months ago which induced me to go ahead and booked the flight and coerced MG to agree to it. Furthermore, I wanted to attend a conference there held at the same time also and I used that as an excuse. I was run off my feet a week before the trip trying to get all work settled (I failed), went for highlights (kaedahnya? Entah la! This is after I decided that rebonding may not be such a good idea after laki aku cakap I may end up looking like that particular host from Jalan2 Cari Makan – si tembam berambut lurus), got little D’s passport settled and lastly I wanted to have a facial, mani and pedicure before I left (tak sempat! Apa ke halnya kan??? Macam nak pi jumpa boipren).

So off we went to the LCCT at 730 for the flight at 1040. Then MG (yg bila I tanya apasal you ni bergaya sgt dgn fitted shirt and sunglass Oakley (yg didatangkan khas utk trip ni), tlg la dress decently cam laki kengkawan I yg lain –meaning collared tshirt ngan jeans je ke..ni takde le nampak lebih bergaya dari mem. Dgn bongkak je dia menjawab – I ni kan frequent flyer!) pun pi la ke counter utk check in. Suddenly I saw his face berubah….and he beckoned me to him. The lady officer explained that oleh kerana tinggal lagi 5 bulan je passport si polan ni nak mati….and you guys know la kan what to expect. At that time I rasa cam nak pelangkung je laki I tu or the least I wanted to say was ‘what??! You told me to run around buatkan passport anak and you yourself tak check your own passport??!! ‘ I asked him calmly, (tak sampai hati nak buat scene kat situ because I tengok muka MG pun cam nak nangis dah) did you overlook the date? No, I didn’t know tak boleh fly overseas kalu less than 6 mths. Hah! Frequent flyer konon!!

After some discussion with the officer, we decided I should go first because takkan nak bazirkan tiga2 tiket and afterall I was the one who had to attend the conference and was already paid for pun. And Little D and MG were to take the later flight for that day after MG has his passport sorted out. Nasib baikla sekarang ni boleh siap in 2 hours. I couldn’t manage anak I yg lasak tu sorang2 and kalu tiga2 on standby, the chances of getting on the flight is pretty slim. So I waved them goodbye and I went to checkin on my own…of course the suitcase I was carrying contained both mine and MG stuffs so it exceeded the 15kgs allowed and I kena bayar la kan??? (MG really owed me big time, I tell you!). Masa kat departure terminal (yg macam stesen Bas express je tu. Elo Tony, upgrade le sikit. Ni screen tv pun takde) I was really upset, mata merah mengenangkan anak I yg baru tiba airport 5 min pas tu kena naik taxi balik ke rumah…the I pandang kiri kanan and saw many mat2 and minah indon yg tengah tunggu flight diaorg jugak utk pulang ke pekalongan masing2…ish, nanti org ingat I was one of them and tengah bersedihan sebab kena deport balik. Ces!

(MG arrived at the immigration at 10am and I calculated by 1pm or latest 2pm he would have his passport ready. But noooo…they stopped work for lunch and it was only ready at 3pm. The AA officer specifically mentioned that him and little D had to be back at the airport by 3pm to secure their seat on standby. They didn’t get to the airport until 415, flight was supposed to be at 440pm therefore all check-in counters for Bali were already closed. I supposed people took pity on MG because he seemed like bapa tunggal, so everyone was ever ready to help him out. Thank god flight was delayed for nearly an hour, he managed to secure a seat and they reached Bali at about 9pm that night. Phew! Talk about all the drama!)

As of that trip, MG has lost his ‘position’ as being the dependable one. I must from then onwards double check all important documents when we go travelling. Plus the fact being a typical guy that he is, didn’t check his smses thus he missed mine telling him to ask the maid to prepare 2 bottles of milk for little D for the journey. Nasib baik anak aku tu hyperexcited being on a plane and didn’t ask for her milk. Just imagine, her last was at 3pm and I saw them at 10pm. Aiyo kadawale, kadawale!

BALI PART 2
The next day was the start of my conf. So I left them at 9am, MG took little D for her swim. I was only there until lunch time and I went back to the hotel. We were staying at Mer*cure Kuta and had lunch just at the Pizza Hut next door. In fact Hard Rock Hotel was next door too. Original plan was to stay there because MG said that his former boss had a hand in its design but while surfing the net, MG fell for Mer*cure’s Infinity Pool. That afternoon we went to Jalan Sulawesi in Denpasar which was 20 mins taxi ride away. Here they have two rows of shops yg beratus meter panjangnya selling kain batik, kebaya etc. Donno what’s wrong with me, it’s like I dah tak berapa minat with all the kain sulam2 or batik so I only ended up with one batik sarong. Agaknya pun because I was tired minding little D yg asyik nak berlari keluar kedai. Then we went back to the hotel to rest before going out for dinner. We jalan2 at Kuta high street only and masuk Kartika Discovery Plaza. When we were staying at Kartika Hotel (just next door) 4 years ago, the complex was not built yet. Masa tu was a few months after the Oct 2002 bombing so it was ‘sepi sekali’ as the cab drivers would say over and over again. We had dinner at MacD, then we went back to the hotel (kat sana sunset at 630pm macam Sabah ye bella?). Little D was ready for her bath tub session and then she went to bed. MG deserved some time on his own window shopping (believe me laki aku ni memang kaki!) so I said nemind you pegi la, I tunggu baby – yg ya nya I nak bolot tv sorang2.

The 2nd day pun sama jugak. I had to attend the conf but tengahari je I cabut. Had lunch in the hotel room je because senang little D nak bercomot2. Then we went out along Legian masuk kedai2 kecik tepi jalan. Of course little D had the most things bought for her. Oh yeah, I got myself a pair of Crocs wedges too on the first day. Slightly more expensive here but they had them in many more colours. Apparently kat Msia kena order. MG spent nearly an hour haggling for batik to hang on the wall and during that time little D dah tido, jaga, tido, jaga pun daddynya tak habis2 bershopping lagi. We went back to the hotel, threw little D into the pool, then her bath tub session, fed her some hot choc and bread (ingatkan nak lapik perut je) and she was so tired that she fell asleep halfway through tea. Then seperti isteri mithali I told MG to go have fun and just remember to come back with dinner for us at whatever time. Baik kan aku??

The next day we were to go to Ub*ud for two nights…aaa..this is a different story altogether…..nanti sambung lagi.

P/S I Cuma terkilan that I didn’t get to do any body worshipping in Kuta..i wanted to have my nails done and facials tapi tak sempat2. I felt guilty to request for ‘me’ time when MG dah kena jaga anak half the day.

Cik Kiah and Little D

MG and Little D beside the pool. It’s on the rooftop overlooking the beach.

The scenery from where we had breakfast.

Seperti mana pilem pilem keluaran Kak Julie, kalau takde adegan di kolam renang memang tak sah.

Catching up

I realised that I have been quite hopeless at trying to update my blog weekly if not every few days. I know I owe my very few readers some updates regarding certain issues. It’s becoming like some of the paperwork at the office that need my attention at this moment, I’m not getting anywhere near it but they’re always at the back of my mind. Let me see, what are the issues?

1. Cerita org minyak yg tak sudah2?
Would you all be contented if I summarise the story? After those wonderful 11/2 weeks, he went back to his place. Then after 2 months he came back and perangai cam siamang tak bertamaddun, end of story? No?? Then, please bear with me, before the end of this year I’ll surely tell you the ending of the love-story-tak-jadi.

2. Hjh Esah Ju-On tagged me on 5 people I would like to take with me to Istanbul
Well, since she has invited me, I should return her the honour…so, tinggal 4 org je la kan? Or does it not work that way? Well, first and foremost, I mesti bawak Mr Gig solely for the reason that I don’t think he would want to be left behind. Lagi2 hotel yg canggih camtu, he must live up to his reputation as gigolo kelas atasan..kan? lagi satu, laki aku ni kuat shopping, so boleh kowtim la ngan dia. After my recent Bali trip, I’ve decided that I would have to leave little D behind because I’m going there for some serious shopping and man-watching therefore having a toddler around just won’t do. Penat woi!!

Then I would like to take along my best friend from work. She was in Bali at the same time as I was but we didn’t get to meet up. The thought of having her so near and yet so far…and I had all these goss and girlie talks I wanted to have with her but I couldn’t and it was really driving me nuts. OK, that’s two..The third person would be Ustazah Munah my other best friend. She’s fun to be with, very considerate and all…we have never been on any girlie trips together because well, I was always so skint and now when financially I’m better, I have a baby and she’s just mighty busy suing people.

The fourth person I would like to take along with me would be Michael Vartan from Alias, Never Been Kissed and Monster in Law to name a few. Well, what can I say? I’m a sucker for those with boy-next-door looks. The way he smiles…..i am at this very moment picturing us doing the A Sinclair & B C Lestari by the pool…(cis, makcik tak sedar diri!).

The fifth person would definitely be Brad Pitt…saja nak buat Angelina Jolie jealous and if he wants to be on this trip, he definitely have to abide to this rule: he should at all times expose his muscular thighs like he did in Troy..you all rasa kalu Michael Vartan lawan Brad Pitt sapa menang ye???

3. He aint heavy, he’s my brother.
My brother is nearly 40. He wants to get married and since he’s that old and he doesn’t need a wali, basically he doesn’t owe anyone any explanation on how he wants it to be done, right? Well, wrong. Remember this uncle of mine yg mulut puaka ngalahkan Amityville horror lagi? He’s my dad’s eldest surviving brother..he’s always been the org tengah. I guess I put up with him because I didn’t have any other choice, plus that I hate not being agreeable with my parents and also the fact that I’m not as sensitive as my bro. Anyway, my brother planned for his engagement to be after raya, he specifically didn’t want that uncle to head the entourage and told my dad so. Of course my dad got really upset and everything got blown out of proportion. Basically it became so out of hand that my parents didn’t want to have anything to do with the wedding..OK fine..my brother is old enough to do what he wants and my only concern is that I just want to see him get married and after all the earlier problems we had with him, in my opinion, my parents should just count their blessings that he has finally decided to settle down and with a decent woman. But oh noooo! They made us i.e. my sis (the arse licker), my cousin (the desperate hoswipe who is like a part of the family) and I guess me take sides..it became a bit childish. Suffice it to say, my sis may just be a guest at the wedding because she doesn’t want to incur the wrath of my parents but I have decided, since kahwin ni kan benda baik, I will support my brother all the way even though if they decide to blacklist me. Itulah ceritanya.
