I did promise to comment on this certain person's fantasy about a particular dentist bini orang. Apa kena mengena dengan ku?? Tak tau la kan...
This dentist bini orang (DBO..nasib baik tak DBI, kan DBI oi?) selama ni buat kerja dia yg mulia tu tanpa ada rasa syak wasangka terhadap apa2 perangai atau fantasi boye (walaupun mulut patient memang selalunya terbuka luas cam boye). I think before this she has never been exposed to this kind of revelation. Agaknya pun her career menengok mulut2 boye besar sungguh singkat, ada la kut give and take 2 tahun. From then onwards all the boyes that come to see her semuanya tak lebih dari 2.5 kaki tinggi. (If at that height/age they start to fantasise, my god! What's happening to this world kan?). Anyway, i'm sure DBO's quite flattered that ada gak org nak berfantasi tentang dia walaupun from the day of revelation she shall never again see any big boyes without thinking yg bukan2 seperti berapa incikah her bosom from the person's face? (dah la dia tu well endowed!). Adakah boye itu akan berfantasi sampai terangkat2 kaki dan yg sewaktu dengannya..ooops! The thing is she has never checked mulut laki dia pun in fact she asked her colleague to check his..oooo..! Now dia terpikir sebab tu la laki dia pernah termimpi her friend in blue nightie (ces! and hers do not even 'EXIST'!). So, peringatan kepada laki DBO, selepas ni you gi check gigi ngan bini you je lah, OK?
Apa2 pun i'm sure DBO teramat la flatterednya ada gak org nak berfantasia pasal dia..

Meroyan
Last Monday was my first day back at work (officially) from my maternity leave. Tiba je I tengok bilik I banjir although the dept.’s reception area lagi teruk. First thing I did was to look up at the ceiling, tak pulak nampak damp patch cam dlm Dark Water tu. Jangan tak tau, this building we’re occupying is so old in fact we’re the second owner. Bocor sana bocor sini, tadah air hujan ngan baldi lagi kenkadang. There was once where a colleague obtained a room for his office slyly..bilik yg besar siap ngan split level aircond lagi. He sort of ‘chased’ the previous occupant away dgn segala mala hujah pada boss why the room should be his. Nak dijadikan cerita, one morning datang kerja he discovered that the ceiling roboh meninggalkan lubang terlopong! Padan muka pun kan. Anyway, we got the maintenance men to come and they found out that the puddle datang dari bilik I …. There’s a kepala paip in my room yg telah dibuka. The men looked at me suspiciously, must be thinking that aku lah yg buka paip utk mandi manda kut masa weekend. Apa diaorg ingat I nak simulate mata air ke kat dinding bilik I ?? I didn’t even realize ada kepala paip kat bilik I tu (in my defense, it was hidden behind my coat stand). I was OK, no Monday blues whatsoever…coming to work was muccccchhh better than staying at home with Little D yg masih tak boleh attend her nursery because of the pox. I’m not cut out to be a stay-at-home mum..
Then I discovered that the kolam ikan yg I dok pertahankan sangat tu dah dikeringkan airnya..hopefully for some repair and renovation work. I don’t even dare ask what’s happened to the fish yg saki baki tu..jadi aruah dah kut.
I needed something to do that Monday morning..apa org kata? To get the momentum?? Then I remembered the weekend before about stumbling across open burning kat area rumah I …bunyi cam serious sangat kan? Well, anyway, I am very sensitive to smoke ngalahkan smoke detector unit lagi. Kalau sebatu pun hidung I dah rasa gatal2. Just imagine, that Saturday driving back from somewhere adala kebun pasang siap ni (yg baru2 ni dilaunchkan oleh PM kita), I nampak ada dua tiga longgok api and berasap2 coming from there. Yes, you can launch whatever scheme under the sun but jgn lah pulak merosakkan alam sekitar. Of course it got my knickers in a twist. So I surfed the net nak cari contact no. ministry yg helped to launch that scheme. Call kali ke setengah dozen baru ada org angkat and was passed to this ‘kakak’. When I started to air my grouses, nicely of course, kita pun professional kan, takkan nak marah2 tak tentu pasal. But this akak ni gelak sindir2 pulak and said to me ‘eh, takkan yg itu pun kitaorg nak jaga’. All I asked was how the farm waste was supposed to be disposed. Obviously la I pun mula la fed up ‘hello! You all lancarkan this scheme that scheme tapi takde set rules and regulations’. Akak tu pun passed me on to another officer sampai siap nak bagi hp no. that officer lagi (perli la ni of course). That officer said to me, ‘kami tak galakkan penduduk buat pembakaran terbuka’ to which I replied, ‘puan, the keywords here should not be tak galakkan, it should be tak benarkan!’ Just imagine, yg tu baru satu kelompok rumah gomen, berapa banyak kelompok rumah gomen ada kat tempat I ni?? When jerebu time, we keep blaming the poor Indons.
Somehow I wasn’t convinced when she said that they’ll have a word with the residents. I resorted to writing to a local newspaper to complain (if only I am this committed to writing academically, dah lama I ni dah bertaraf Prof uols!) but sampai la ni tak dipublish..is it because I mengutuk scheme gomen ke?? My colleagues think that I ni kes meroyan..

Peram
I have just made my first batch of garbage enzyme or to be more precise, it should be ready just after raya month. I get pretty excited about benda2 peram ni (no MG, ini tak termasuk what you have in mind)...the process in making it itself is exhilarating. I only wish i have the patience to wait for it to fully mature.
(Agaknya sebab tu i suka cheese yg bau cam stokin busuk tu)
Probably it started off with my opah making bedak sejuk which is now my mum's expertise. The beras has to be soaked for over 6 months and the water is filtered out, kacau2 and ganti air baru. Each time the washing takes place, satu rumah akan bau cam kentut telur busuk. Tapi uols, benda tu la yg i dok tepek bila i kat rumah (itulah rahsia kecantikan kulit i yg putih berseri ni hehe) and termasuklah anak2 i sekali i tepek. Seriously speaking, bedak sejuk is so effective on rashes. Pakai pagi malam dah OK. Jangan tak tau, my mum bekalkan i stock bedak sejuk cukup setahun masa kat UK dulu!
Then when i was in the UK, i got into making telur and ikan masin. How on earth i got hold of telur itik pun i dah tak ingat dah. It normally took me 3 weeks for good telur masin yg putihnya tak berapa masin unlike those you get commercially. But as i said before, oleh kerana i ni jenis kurang sabar, i asyik ngap dulu setiap minggu and selang beberapa hari sebab nak check dah ready ke belum that cukup 3 minggu je mungkin i tinggal 2 biji je (btw Esah, jangan nak berotak blue kat sini).
At that time also i started to make salted fish and chicken (jangan tak tau, agaknya apa2 yg i can get hold of mesti i garamkan). I learned this thing from my housemate from St. Lucia. The problem was the university halls of residence yg i dok tu provided with us two tiny fridges untuk 6 org. Dapat pulak housemates yg jenis beli frozen food yg berkotak2 and shopping seminggu sekali. Tak cukup tempat for everyone. In order not to let the meat/fish go bad, i salted them. Agaknya masa tu darah tinggi aku! And these Carribean housemates of mine (sorang lagi dari Jamaica) pun suka preserve air anggur lah, halia lah (tasted really like the real ginger ale) and then kita org minum bagai nak rak. Ngok tul i masa tu...bila di pikirkan balik, no wonder la lepas minum cam rasa weng je, those drinks dah jadi cam todi buatan sendiri, kan?? Ish ish!
I asked MG to let me have a tiny space at our garden because i nak buat compost pulak (another proses pemeraman) to which he said no, not in the garden but pi kat store belakang rumah tu because he doesn't want the smell to linger kat dia. How am i going to save the earth camni kan? Ish pretty boy betul lah! Once i get hold of tong drum, here i go!
Anyway, my garbage concoction will be good in 3 months time, sesapa berminat nak try give me a call.

Tortoise
Last Sunday MG found a tortoise in our garden as big as 2 palm-sized. I was ecstatic...with the squirrel (sekor je i think because the partner dah terbunuh dek Monty) and frog and now ni tortoise, i feel very close to nature, rasa cam at par lah ngan si Jeff Corwin tu..Yesterday, i went to look for the tortoise, he's gone..! Our garden cuma sekangkang kera so if he's around, not hard to find. Agaknya because i terkinja2 sangat pergi usik dia, selak daun2, MG bagi makan kangkung, therefore he's done a runner.
My parents were around when MG discovered the tortoise. I asked him to lift it up for me to see in which he replied, eh dia boleh gigit ke? I rasa nak tergelak guling2, obviously it's not alligator snapping turtle la bang! To which my dad (my parents were around that weekend) patiently answered, noooo...
Hai laki aku ni...masa dok mengorat i dulu, dia ada cakap kat i in one of his emails, 'i'm a kampung boy at heart'..i guess in his heart je la kan..body tak! Uols jangan tak tau, MG's complexion flawless you, takde parut or tokak langsung. Pas tu stuff he knows for e.g. threadcounts la, alpha-hydroxy acid lah, i'm so not worthy! (in his defence, he has told me that masa dia kecik2 dulu dia la tukang pegangkan ayam nak disembelih oleh pakciknya). Just recently, i told him kalau dia pompuan and i laki, there's no way i nak ngorat dia because he's such high maintenance!
You may wonder apakah i ni kononnya pandai sangat pasal keluarga kura2 ni? Well, sepanjang i sekolah, we kept 3 fresh water turtles. My bro and i selalu melatih diaorg to scuba dive kat dalam kolah bilik mandi we all..
My bro also has a friend that kept a tortoise. Selalu on the way balik mengaji and i would tag along to this friend's house. He has a large pond with some fish and this lone tortoise. I thought this guy was such pencinta alam that i had my crush on him..bila i main2 dgn tortoise tu tak pernah pulak le dia menggigit.

She ain't heavy..just crazy
I cleaned out my wardrobe..again..i'm pretty detremined that tomorrow i shall get to M&S, which branch doesn't matter. I sent an sms to MG just now asking him to let's go to MV tomorrow (i can't go to MV on my own, the parking lot is a big maze to me) and he's cracking his head this very moment tak tau alasan apa nak bagi kat boss nak ambik cuti. Why can't i just go over the weekend? Because it's going to be 24hours too late plus we can pretend to little D and the maid as if we're going to work but sebenornya...it helps to lessen the guilty conscience. When pa & ma are on serious shopping expedition, little ones will only slow them down.
Anyway, back to the wardrobe, i separated my working clothes into 3 categories:
1) Comfortable, perfect for my size but alas way too safe - stuff like oversized white shirts and linen pants (you know masa slim nampak lawa, masa gemuk kira OK and masa ngandung pun boleh muat!) and baju kurung johor. Not impressivelah but helps you to blend into the crowd (tapi not the type of clothe my colleagues or i would wear kalu nak mintak apa2 kat big boss i yg terlebih vitamin G (atal) tu.
2) Shock and awe (more of the former i think) - also in my size but it takes a lot of courage to put them on. Kalau rasa2 badan ada kurang 250mg because the night before i skipped dinner or masa try baju pagi2 bebudak tak bangun lagi and lampu malap2, then these clothes can be worn (and mind you with all the gadgets one needs to whole stomach in, bottom up etc.) E.g. baju kebaya nyonya (mesti masa mak nyonya yg invent baju ni dulu obviously she didn't have ME in mind sebagai pemakainya), pencil thin skirt (the type that doesn't allow you to breathe or sit) and ballerina top (that brings your eyes to the tummy). These clothes usually elicit senyuman kambing 'bini aku dah mereng' type from Mr Gig. I go in to work with 'semangat' and by 10am coffee break i would be enveloped in my white coat ..my courage gone sometime between breakfast and toilet visit.
3) You must be joking! clothes - those yg dah mengecik (they shrink???) and jangan mimpi la nak dapat pakai balik semula in this life time. Masa muda dolu2 boleh la..bila bercinta sikit dah boleh muat balik, so baju2 set ni expiry date dia boleh tahan jugak..tapi kalau dah baya2 gini, toksah haraplah! Agaknya kalau dapat bercinta ngan Brad Pitt barulah muat balik kut pasal sanggup makan angin je nak kuruskan badan (obviously kalau kena bersaing dgn si Angelina tu). At this age (35 ok?), nak tunggu cinta lagi apa ke jadahnya kan? Baik makan, another nikmat dunia gak..
So, i had to get rid of MORE clothes. Hence, why i desperately need to go shopping.

Chicken pox and apam
Little D has the pox!! (chicken, not small. Why is it called chicken pox?? Sebab tu ke org Melayu suruh pantang dari makan ayam if you have it? All these riddles, beats me kan). Anyway, as i was leaving for work yesterday (i have extended my leave tapi i masuk kerja, gila kan? Tapi i masuk pukul 10, pakai jeans etc. sebab tu i bekerja tapi cuti, plus if you say you're actually on leave, they cannot make you supervise the trainees hence you get to catch up with paperwork stuff), her teacher caught me and said, no, we don't have pepijat at our nursery (MG first2 cakap anaknya kena gigit pepijat belakang tengkuk, so, teachers, kindly please sanitise your nursery), this lesion looks like the pox's. Mana le i tau because i've never had it! Off i went taking Little D to the clinic and memang sah it's CP. So, semalam tak jadi masuk kerja.
Last night i remembered that i took a file home, kononnya nak siapkan kerja tapi satu benda pun tak selak lagi and there's an audit taking place this Monday. PA boss dah cakap, Cik Kiah tolong pulangkan file hari ini juga. So, i left a crying toddler (this sounds so cute and harmless...no, she actually screamed, menangis cam out of cite T@mil) with pox at home. On my way to workwhile i was on Jln Tun Razak, the boss smsed to tell me that M&S sale up to 70% off and she'll be taking an early lunch.....i was so closed to swing over masuk KLCC basement parking, had to remind myself of the crying toddler's face at home plus MG's 'ooo! Shopping tak ingat anak kat rumah!' Padahal i think he's more jealous with the fact that i can do that at anytime plus jumpa boss sekali kat situ!
I am resigned to the fact that Baby X will get the pox. Try as i might to put her under quarantine, but how? Little D follows me around like a shadow when i'm at home. Dah la tu, i pulak tak pernah dapat the disease before so i can offer her no protection in terms of maternal antibodies. Baby X is a quiet unassuming baby. Because of this i've been a very bad mother! Unlike with little D last time who was more demanding...For a start, i left her to go back to work before she was 2 months old. Malam2 i selalu terlelap teramat sangat and doesn't check her nappies as often as i should and tengok2 dah bocor and she'd already be wet. Then i 'rela paksa' in allowing Monty to jump into bed with us and she may have eczema because of this. I let the maid do all the mandi-ing therefore dah lama i tak tengok belakang badan dia camna, kut ada kurap ke, kudis ke...then, 20 years from now people will blame her for having middle child syndrome when it's all my fault!
So, from this weekend onwards i pledge to:
1) Sanitise the bedroom (as i told Lyza who commented in my earlier post).
2) No more furry kids allowed in bed but Monty is still allowed to use the bedroom as a thoroughfare to the balcony.
3) set the alarm clock at 3 am to check her nappy. Other times to check are at 12midnight before i berlabuh and 6 am when i get up.
4) Speak and sing to her as much as possible so she recognises that i'm mummy and not bibik.
5) Bathe her on weekends.
Anyone wants to add anything??? And please, i'm only human (one lazy not fit to have kids type)
MG and I took little D to the paediatrician today for the anti-viral. We had breakfast later and MG had some kuih apam. I remembered one incident while we were courting. We were at KLCC nak turun escalator and we passed in front of LeCucur. I mentioned that their kuih semua mahal2. MG replied, ' tapi i suka apam dia'. Uols! I nak terjatuh escalator bila dengar dia cakap camtu. So naive was he (or pura2??) that he committed the faux pas i.e. you never cakap pasal 'apam' kat pompuan because it may be miscontrued (right ladies??). Of course being the pmt (pompuan melayu terakhir) that i was i tersipu2 malu...i told him just now i should have said 'you tak rasa apam (yg i buat) i lagi' hah! He didn't get it why it was a no no. I said it's like me telling a guy 'i like his/so and so sausage'..ish!
OK, there you go. I need to head home. Pray that i don't lose sight and end up at KLCC.When you're heading towards the same direction, you really need iman yg kuat. Ish! dugaan betul.
P/S I will definitely comment about a certain Hajah's entry on her fantasising a certain (or any dentist? Malaysia's 2nd astronaut is one dishy one) dentist next time.

Mid-life Crisis II
Over the weekend, MG gave his wardrobe a spring cleaning and got rid of a lot of stuffs. (I am kaypoh) I must say that some of the shirts he threw out were relatively new so i asked him why. He said that he wants to revamp his image. Macam ada bau2 mid life crisis je ni...
I hit mine (MLC) a few weeks ago. I spring cleaned my wardrobe also leaving only clothes that were purchased within the last one year. I was hoping i could squeeze into those clothes but it's been nearly 2 months since i had Baby X and i am EXPANDING instead of losing the flabs. Now i have clothe crisis. I'm due to start work in 2 weeks time but i don't even have enough to make 2 minggu pusingan! One weekend i dragged MG to shop for a pair of jeans..i was confident that i should go down a size. Dapat pulak yg melayan i was adik lembut yg sungguh suka mem'flatter' i..he agreed that i should go down one size from what i normally wear..at the fitting room, i somehow managed to squeeze into this bootleg jeans, and i didn't think twice and terus shove my credit card at the cashier. The next day i put on those jeans to work (since in actual fact i masih bercuti and jeans are allowed), my god! I'm sure the jeans screamed in agony! Throughout the day my arse was hanging out because it was so low waisted - moral of the story is kalau teringin nak pakai jeans yg sungguh la tight fittingnya, do it in your twenties and 10kilos lighter and not when 2 kids later, spare tyre (literally tyre lorry) around your waist, bum sagged to your knees...talk about MY mid-life crisis.
I have been rather busy these past two weeks. Mula2 little D and Baby X demam. Then baby X broke out in rashes..really bad! Macam kena measles lepas tu when the skin dried out, they started to peel off pulak. She's much better now although i have to be careful what i eat since i'm breastfeeding.
I got back to work unofficially right after my pantang because of the conference we were organising. It went smoothly last weekend, si Baung did a splendid job handling our part of the job while i was away. Of course being the typical worry wort that he is, he drove us up the wall..nak kira duit pun nak pi tempat sunyi sepi (i.e. masuk bilik hotel) takut org rompak. Kat bilik secretariat pun dia tak nak! Then he also expected us to terbit kat hotel pukul 7 pagi! I left home at 5.55 am for two days in a row! All in all, damn glad that was over.
By the way, what preparation did i do while Baung was run off his feet prior to the conference? I went to have mani&pedicure. Well, i thought since i'd be registering the participants, might as well i have nice nails...for them to look at..Gosh! defintely MLC!
