Chicken pox and apam

Little D has the pox!! (chicken, not small. Why is it called chicken pox?? Sebab tu ke org Melayu suruh pantang dari makan ayam if you have it? All these riddles, beats me kan). Anyway, as i was leaving for work yesterday (i have extended my leave tapi i masuk kerja, gila kan? Tapi i masuk pukul 10, pakai jeans etc. sebab tu i bekerja tapi cuti, plus if you say you're actually on leave, they cannot make you supervise the trainees hence you get to catch up with paperwork stuff), her teacher caught me and said, no, we don't have pepijat at our nursery (MG first2 cakap anaknya kena gigit pepijat belakang tengkuk, so, teachers, kindly please sanitise your nursery), this lesion looks like the pox's. Mana le i tau because i've never had it! Off i went taking Little D to the clinic and memang sah it's CP. So, semalam tak jadi masuk kerja.

Last night i remembered that i took a file home, kononnya nak siapkan kerja tapi satu benda pun tak selak lagi and there's an audit taking place this Monday. PA boss dah cakap, Cik Kiah tolong pulangkan file hari ini juga. So, i left a crying toddler (this sounds so cute and harmless...no, she actually screamed, menangis cam out of cite T@mil) with pox at home. On my way to workwhile i was on Jln Tun Razak, the boss smsed to tell me that M&S sale up to 70% off and she'll be taking an early lunch.....i was so closed to swing over masuk KLCC basement parking, had to remind myself of the crying toddler's face at home plus MG's 'ooo! Shopping tak ingat anak kat rumah!' Padahal i think he's more jealous with the fact that i can do that at anytime plus jumpa boss sekali kat situ!

I am resigned to the fact that Baby X will get the pox. Try as i might to put her under quarantine, but how? Little D follows me around like a shadow when i'm at home. Dah la tu, i pulak tak pernah dapat the disease before so i can offer her no protection in terms of maternal antibodies. Baby X is a quiet unassuming baby. Because of this i've been a very bad mother! Unlike with little D last time who was more demanding...For a start, i left her to go back to work before she was 2 months old. Malam2 i selalu terlelap teramat sangat and doesn't check her nappies as often as i should and tengok2 dah bocor and she'd already be wet. Then i 'rela paksa' in allowing Monty to jump into bed with us and she may have eczema because of this. I let the maid do all the mandi-ing therefore dah lama i tak tengok belakang badan dia camna, kut ada kurap ke, kudis ke...then, 20 years from now people will blame her for having middle child syndrome when it's all my fault!

So, from this weekend onwards i pledge to:
1) Sanitise the bedroom (as i told Lyza who commented in my earlier post).
2) No more furry kids allowed in bed but Monty is still allowed to use the bedroom as a thoroughfare to the balcony.
3) set the alarm clock at 3 am to check her nappy. Other times to check are at 12midnight before i berlabuh and 6 am when i get up.
4) Speak and sing to her as much as possible so she recognises that i'm mummy and not bibik.
5) Bathe her on weekends.

Anyone wants to add anything??? And please, i'm only human (one lazy not fit to have kids type)

MG and I took little D to the paediatrician today for the anti-viral. We had breakfast later and MG had some kuih apam. I remembered one incident while we were courting. We were at KLCC nak turun escalator and we passed in front of LeCucur. I mentioned that their kuih semua mahal2. MG replied, ' tapi i suka apam dia'. Uols! I nak terjatuh escalator bila dengar dia cakap camtu. So naive was he (or pura2??) that he committed the faux pas i.e. you never cakap pasal 'apam' kat pompuan because it may be miscontrued (right ladies??). Of course being the pmt (pompuan melayu terakhir) that i was i tersipu2 malu...i told him just now i should have said 'you tak rasa apam (yg i buat) i lagi' hah! He didn't get it why it was a no no. I said it's like me telling a guy 'i like his/so and so sausage'..ish!

OK, there you go. I need to head home. Pray that i don't lose sight and end up at KLCC.When you're heading towards the same direction, you really need iman yg kuat. Ish! dugaan betul.

P/S I will definitely comment about a certain Hajah's entry on her fantasising a certain (or any dentist? Malaysia's 2nd astronaut is one dishy one) dentist next time.
